The background
Our client had been cautioned for child neglect after she was said to have left her two children, both under 10, alone for a period of time. She had just been through an acrimonious separation and was adjusting to life as a single mother in difficult financial circumstances.
After rebuilding her life she wanted to move into a regulated role. Because of the nature of the offence, the caution would always be disclosed on standard and enhanced DBS checks, and she was having significant difficulties developing her career.

The outcome
The police initially refused to delete the caution. We provided further detailed representations and additional evidence, and the police then agreed to delete it.
