The client, a foreign national, had had his business premises searched by trading standards officers. In the course of the search an allegation of assault was made by the trading standards officers.
The client was represented by the duty solicitor at interview and he subsequently accepted a police caution.

We were instructed to apply to remove the caution as it was impeding the client’s ability to apply for British citizenship. The police caution was having a devastating impact on him as he had built up a successful business in England and risked having to return abroad.
After we reviewed the case we advised the client that he had a strong case to argue for the police caution to be removed.

Within two months of applying to the police, they not only removed the police caution but also agreed to remove all record of the incident including the client’s bio-metric data and fingerprints.
